How to Book

Our booking office will be happy to assist and advise on any aspect of your visit. In order to make a booking for the Castle as easy as possible, we suggest that you consider the following before you contact us:

  1. Your preferred date and time of arrival and departure. If a group arrives late for their booked time we endeavour to accommodate them at a different time, but this is not always possible. Please try to arrive well before your booked tour or education session. NB: traffic can be heavy in the city centre.
  2. What you would like to achieve from your visit? You will be asked a number of questions, including your topic of study, age of children, and whether there are any children with special needs so that we can tailor the tour/talk to the right level. If someone else is making the booking on your behalf, please make sure they are aware of your needs. We are always happy to try to adapt our offer too!
  3. Decide whether you wish to go on a guided tour, just visit the grounds or make use of the Education Centre during your visit. All guided tours and all sessions in the Education Centre must be pre-booked. If you intend to book the Education Centre please decide in advance which room you wish to use.

How to Pay

Payment for standard school visits should be made on the day but if you would prefer to be invoiced, please let us know at the time of booking.

Full payment for special workshops will be required 2 weeks prior to the date of your workshop for which you will be invoiced.

If you cancel a confirmed booking, a cancellation fee of 50% of the total cost of the booking for both special workshops and standard educational sessions will be charged. If your cancellation is due to inclement weather, please contact the Education Officer for further advice. Payment for Joust! will be required a month after booking. We advise that we cannot offer refunds and that you will be invoiced for the numbers of pupils for which you book
